WELLNESS TIPS: Adequate Fish Chicken Egg Protein

wellness, manifest health, nutrition, weight loss tips, Loveland CO holistic chiropractor, nutrition, massage

EAT WELL… eating adequate amounts of protein. When balancing your eating plan with a variety of proteins minimize your beef and pork. Eat more eggs, chicken, turkey, fish, buffalo and beans/legumes for your protein choices throughout the week.

The nutrient content of proteins are greatly affected by grass fed vs grain fed. Whether you are eating beef, chicken, eggs or other proteins, protein from free range and free grazing animals is best for your health. Compared to commercial products grass fed has lower fat. Grass fed meats have more good fats and less bad fats. They are also found to be lower in calories while richer in antioxidants: vitamins E (4X higher), beta-carotene and vitamin C. Grass fed proteins are free of hormones, antibiotics and other drugs.

Eating moderate amounts of grass-fed meat for only 4 weeks will give you healthier levels of essential fats, according to a 2011 study in the British Journal of Nutrition. SOURCE: EatWild.com

When eating beef/pork choose high quality meats. Only eat quality beef/pork that you know how the animals were treated. When animals are abused or treated poorly those experiences are laced into the meats. Enjoy your beef and pork servings up to 3 times each week. Meats found in specialty meat shops are always going to be higher quality than super market. With the help of the internet and local grass fed ranches you can order large quantifies of all types of proteins and store them in your freezer until you are ready to indulge.

GOAL: My New Chiropractic Office

equine chiropractic, animal chiropractic, animal care, Loveland CO holistic chiropractor, animal behavior issuesI’ve been in a chiropractic clinical setting since 1993. As a small child I’ve always had a beautiful sweet connection with horses and all animalsMy biggest dream during chiropractic college was to work on horses full-time. I’ve completed 1000’s of equine chiropractic adjustments, but this video inspires me to go to a whole new level of healing with the help of horses.

One of our animals’ purposes with us is to be there for us for healing our hearts, our minds and our world. The healing you can experiences in the energy of a horse is like no other.

In 1994, I named my Seattle chiropractic practice ‘Free Spirit Chiropractic’. It was named after the feeling I experienced riding my horse as a child. I wanted that feeling of freedom to be experienced by each and every one of my patients.

In the year 2000, I announced to the Universe that I NOW adjust horses. It’s been a remarkable journey since. Horses have taught me SO MUCH about chiropractic and what is truly possible by tapping into that beautiful Life Force we were born with.

Horses have AMAZING HEALING ENERGY! This video exemplified all of the miraculous experiences I have had with horses.

Neck pain and shoulder pain?

Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction. Sean was a 16 year old soccer player who was very passionate about his game. Everyone in his family were soccer players. Sean had played soccer since he was old enough to kick a ball. Sean’s first complaint was an acute turf toe which is common to soccer players. Simply put it’s a big toe sprain that happens when athletes play on artificial turf. Artificial turf doesn’t give when an athlete takes off to sprint. The big toe hyper-extends and the ligaments are injured. Sean’s turf toe cleared out within a couple weeks. He was also experiencing severe chronic right hip pain that caused him to hobble off the soccer field after every game. He would spend the entire nursing his pain to get ready for the next day. The next soccer game the chronic hip pain would return and he would hobble off the field again. Like any other athlete Sean had a history of multiple sports injuries: concussions, shoulder injuries, hip injuries, knee injuries, foot injuries and ankle injuries. He had had numerous ankle sprains to both feet. His chiropractic care plan started with chiropractic adjustments to every joint that had abnormal movement: feet, ankles, toes, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, hands and his complete spine. The unexpected joint that was adjusted and totally cleared out the chronic hip pain was the symphysis pubic joint. Sean had a Symphysis Pubic Dysfunction. This joint is critical to adjust when it is the root cause of low back pain or hip pain. Sean’s next soccer game and every game to follow he walked off the soccer field pain-free and played better than ever.

Football athlete hip pain. This chronic hip pain story is about a high school football player named Nick. Nick had been playing football for several years. He had many sports injuries from being a football quarterback. He had had many head injuries and ankle injuries. This time he had had an injury that left him with hip pain that was getting in the way of his very best football game. He had an additional concern because he wanted to be on the field as much as possible so the college football scouts would be able to notice him. This is definitely not the time for pain and being on the bench. Not only did Nick’s hip pain disappear, but he also stated that he had not had any further foot injuries, ankle injuries or knee injuries in the current season. I asked if that was unusual. He said absolutely. He was usually always addressing some type of injury and this year he had had no additional sports injuries while having consistent weekly chiropractic adjustments.

Baseball pitcher shoulder pain. The worst thing that can happen to a young baseball pitcher is an injury in the high time of his season. Matt complained about having right shoulder pain. His father was really concerned because Matt was focused on being scouted for college baseball. Matt was a truly gifted athlete. His pitching was exceptional. This was a scary moment because he was unable to practice due to his shoulder pain. He didn’t remember a specific sports injury, but from pitching his shoulder was in need of help. Matt received a complete neuromuscular examination with a specific examination of his shoulder. All major medical shoulder issues that might involved the rotator cuff muscles were ruled out. His chiropractic care plan was frequent at first in order to reverse the muscle spasms and joint dysfunctions that were causing the shoulder pain. In addition to shoulder pain we also addressed arm muscle pain and elbow pain. Within a few short weeks the shoulder pain ended and Matt played his best baseball season ever. After the shoulder pain was gone he continued his chiropractic care plan weekly through his baseball season to reduce his injuries and increase his athletic performance. He LOVES his chiropractic adjustments!

EQUINE WELLNESS: Horse shows how chiropractic works

equine chiropractic, animal chiropractic, animal care, Loveland CO holistic chiropractor, animal behavior issuesRemarkable equine chiropractic therapy story. “One of my most remarkable chiropractic miracle stories was with a horse. I’ve been adjusting horses, dogs and cats for most of my years of being a chiropractor (since 1994). I remember this phone call so clearly like it was yesterday. The owner told me that her horse would only turn in one direction, but not the other. I said, “Now that is a problem isn’t it?” Of course she agreed. She asked if I could help and I answered her quite honestly. “We won’t know until we try”. She was attempting to train her horse for a dressage competition. It wasn’t going well and she had become quite frustrated.

One chest muscle was completely flat. When I got to the stables I asked the owner to walk the horse so I could watch for anything unusual in the horse’s gait. Nothing stood out. Next I evaluated the horse’s conformation (same as posture in a human being). When standing in front of the horse I noticed something very strange. The left and right chest muscles were not the same size. In fact, the right chest muscle was flat as a pancake while the left chest muscle look totally normal. I asked the owner if she had ever noticed this. She said ‘No’. She also said, “Isn’t that weird?”. I had to totally agreed that is was quite weird.

Let’s see what happens… She then asked me, “What do we do?” I said, “Well, we aren’t going to send your horse to the horsey gym”. I smiled as I held up my activator. “I’m a chiropractor and I’m here for a reason. Let’s see what happens after I adjust your horse.” The activator is the primary chiropractic adjusting instrument I have always used on horses, dogs and cats. Video taping wasn’t as popular and accessible as it is now. I still don’t think I would have taped it because I had no idea what was about to happen. In the few minutes it took me to adjust this horse from head to tail, do a tail pull and finish with adjusting his hind and forelegs something astonishing happened. The owner and I walked to the front of the horse and watched the ‘flat as a pancake’ muscle fill up just like a balloon. The end result was totally equal chest muscles on her horse.

We were both saying, “Oh my G__! What just happened?”

I started to quiz the horse owner to make sure she understood what just happened. I KNEW what happened, but I wanted her to understand. She gave me several logical answers like “the blood flow increased” which I totally agreed with. She kept giving me more rather logical answers. I finally said, “What was the ONLY physical change that took place in these past few minutes?” The only change that had taken place was the chiropractic adjustment. The brain was not connected to the ‘flat as a pancake’ muscle before the adjustment. The muscle didn’t have a clue what to do without the information flowing from the brain.

She turned the horse out into the arena. He ran around like a very happy energetic horse. He turned both directions. His finale was when he ran right towards us and stopped right in front of me. He gave me the biggest head nuzzle you can imagine. He then took off and kicked up his heels like he was having an amazing time!

I really got how important the brain flow of information was to muscles that day. You can exercise all you want, but if your brain to body connection to your muscles are not maximized you will not get the same results.” Dr. Debbie Thompson

How do you know if your have a chiropractic joint or muscle problem?

Let’s start with a muscle strain. Since 1993, patients will always ask me “Do I have a chiropractic joint or muscle problem?” Let’s say you are an athlete and you strain a right hamstring muscle. The first thing that happens is a change in your gait. You start limping. You will also lean away from the right side to avoid feeling the pain. Your eyes will always want to remain at horizon level positioned over the pelvis. Your head will move to the right to compensate for the lean.

This is the beginning of a chiropractic case. Your body starts to twist and turn in multiple directions. If left alone these compensations stay in place and the next time you have a strain or injury there will be more compensations on top of the original one.

Being in pain takes allot of energy. It takes allot more fuel to run your car down the road with low tires. It takes allot more energy to run your body each day with all of the additional twists and turns. Want to have more energy? Having regular chiropractic adjustments will make all the difference in the world.

Although I’ve learned multiple techniques throughout the years my favorite for spinal analysis and adjustments is Torque Release. I’ve witnessed Torque Release reverse adaptations and compensations faster and more efficiently than any other spinal technique I have ever used. So if you have the same question as my patients “Do I have a chiropractic joint or muscle problem?” perhaps this blog post answered that for you. Massage is also important for a complete recovery. I practiced as a Massage Practitioner while attending chiropractic college. Each of my chiropractic treatments includes therapeutic medical massage, physical therapy along with the adjustment. No matter where the issue began muscles are attached to bones. They do a close dance with each other. Accelerate your wellness and recovery time with chiropractic adjustments. Dr. Debbie
